NSW Opposition announce major solar policy
The NSW Opposition has announced plans to slash the power bills of 500,000 families with solar.
If elected on 23 March, a NSW Labor Government will offer up to $2,200 for 500,000 families to install solar.
This will be means tested at $180,000 per household.
Smart Energy Council response
The Smart Energy Council strongly welcomes the NSW Opposition’s solar policy announcement, with CEO John Grimes saying:
“This will be a massive boost for families struggling with power bills and a real fillip for the NSW solar industry.”
“It’s fantastic for families, great for jobs and good news for our climate.”
"The NSW Opposition’s approach is a stark contrast to the Morrison Government, which continues to demonise clean energy and boost polluting coal.”
Just yesterday, the Deputy Prime Minister and Nationals Leader, Michael McCormack said “We don’t want to go down a path of renewables”.
"The Smart Energy Council calls on the NSW Government to match the announcement."
"We also call on the NSW Government and Opposition to adopt policies that encourage families to purchase smart batteries that will help families store their energy for later use and also strengthen the electricity grid."
