Breaking News – SRES Under Threat

ACCC: Scrap the SRES
In a major report on the energy sector the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has today recommended the Small Scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) be abolished by 2021.

Must be Ruled Out
The one thing householders can do to slash their power bills is to install solar.
The federal government needs to immediately rule out abolishing the SRES.
Uncertainty around the SRES will cause unnecessary panic and confusion for consumers and the industry.
With massive uncertainty around the future of large-scale renewables because of the design of the National Energy Guarantee, the last thing we need is more uncertainty.

About the SRES
The SRES will be phased out by 2030, with the amount of deeming reduced every year from now until 2030.
The scheme pays up to $40 for every ton of carbon abated by the installation of small scale solar PV and solar hot water systems.
