Smart Energy Council welcomes Andrews Government’s changes to Solar Homes Rebates

Media Release: Smart Energy Council welcomes Andrews Government’s changes to Solar Homes Rebates

Melbourne, 28 August 2019.

The Smart Energy Council has welcomed the announcement by the Victorian Government of significant changes to the Solar Homes program, including increased rebate allocations.

The changes will see a major increase to the allocations in September, and an increase every month on current numbers for the rest of the financial year. It will also see a streamlined application process to enable easier access to the rebate.

John Grimes, Smart Energy Council CEO, welcomed the government’s decision, saying it would help solar workers get back to work.

“The solar industry has been desperate for an increase in the allocations for the solar rebate program and a streamlined application process, to allow more Victorians to install solar and reduce their power bills.

“The Victorian Government has listened to solar businesses and solar workers and responded to their concerns. This is what good governments do.

“The Victorian Government has been a world leader in solar and renewable energy and the Smart Energy Council looks forward to working closely with the government to deliver a clean energy future.”
