Victorian Solar Rebate: Closed in 90 Minutes

Applications for August’s Solar Victoria rebates have just closed, just 90 minutes after they opened, at 9am this morning.

You are more likely to encounter a unicorn in Victoria today, than meet someone who was successful in securing a rebate.

This is devastating news for the Victorian solar industry, and follows the sudden closure of the program in April and a disastrous July, when the scheme was full within 60 hours.

A survey undertaken by the Smart Energy Council yesterday of 60 Victorian solar businesses found a staggering 80% of solar businesses polled have either closed or are concerned they will close as a result of the Solar Homes Program.

77% of businesses said staff had been made redundant or were expected to be made redundant.

We told the government their scheme was broken.

That customers were missing out.

That dozens of solar companies were going broke.

That thousands of Victorian’s who had solar already were about to lose their warranty support – because their installer just went broke.

The government just dug in.

The Solar Homes Program has been a catastrophe for the Victorian solar industry. The Premier must announce major changes to the program today.

This campaign is just getting started. Stand by for more….
