Large scale solar and wind projects have almost ground to a halt.

The sector is facing a perfect storm of:

  • No national targets to grow renewables, no national energy policy and no national climate policy
  • Operators turning down or tuning off renewable generators
  • Backwards looking connection rules
  • No plan to build transmission ahead of additional renewables

There are serious issues at not just the federal level, but also in specific states such as Victoria and Queensland.

Is it time for us to go to war on these issues?

Join our crisis zoom call at 12:00pm (ADST) Friday to share your views with us.

Working Groups and Submissions

The Smart Energy Council is working hard to turn this around and get the industry back to work.

We:

  • Regularly meet with State and Territory Ministers and bureaucrats, and are active on multiple working groups.
  • Make direct representations on specific issues including e.g. COGATI, Marginal Loss Factors and DER.
  • Regularly meet with AEMC, AEMO, AER, State and Federal parliamentary committees and other inquiries.
  • Have representatives on the Energy Security Board (ESB) Post 2025 NEM Working Group, AEMO DER working group.
  • Participate in technical committees.

But it is not enough. We are now at a crisis point.

The missing element is political will.

Political will follows political pressure.  So it is time to pile on the pressure.

Save Renewables Campaign

If we get sufficient support we are prepared to go to war on this issue.

With funding we will unleash a hard-hitting Save Renewables Campaign calling for new targets and polices to grow renewables and get rid of the bureaucratic red tape.

We will target the next COAG Energy Council meeting – the meeting of Federal and State Energy Ministers – in March 2020.

Including:

  • Traditional and social media campaigning
  • Public meetings in key electorates
  • Advertising Campaign.
